About Root Cause Health and Wellness
At Root Cause Health and Wellness, we believe that lasting health begins by understanding the whole person, not just their symptoms.
Whether you are navigating pregnancy, supporting your child's development, recovering from a concussion, managing pain, or striving to improve your overall wellbeing, our goal is to identify the factors contributing to your concerns and create a personalised plan that supports long-term health and function.
Founded by Dr Estelle Hertzog, Root Cause Health and Wellness has evolved from a chiropractic practice into a multidisciplinary approach to family health, movement, development and recovery. Over the years, Dr Hertzog's clinical interests have expanded beyond musculoskeletal care to include pregnancy and postpartum support, infant and child development, concussion management, rehabilitation and movement-based healthcare.
Our philosophy is simple: every individual has a unique story. Rather than focusing solely on where symptoms appear, we aim to understand the underlying factors influencing health, movement, development and recovery.
Through services such as Chiropractic Care, Rooted Beginnings™, Watch Me™, Concussion Care and Bioflex Laser Therapy, we provide care that supports individuals and families through every stage of life—from pregnancy and newborn care to childhood development, adulthood and healthy ageing.
At Root Cause Health and Wellness, we are committed to helping individuals and families grow, move and thrive.
Meet Dr Estelle Hertzog
Dr Estelle Hertzog is a chiropractor and the founder of Root Cause Health and Wellness. Since graduating from the University of Johannesburg in 2015, she has developed a special interest in family-centred healthcare, helping individuals and families navigate health challenges from pregnancy and infancy through to adulthood.
Her clinical interests include pregnancy and postpartum care, infant and child development, concussion management, sports injury and recovery rehabilitation, movement-based healthcare, oral-facial function and airway health. She has completed additional training in paediatric care, cranial and sacral techniques, concussion management, neurodevelopment, primitive reflex integration, and pregnancy-related care.
Dr Hertzog has a particular interest in the relationship between feeding, breathing, posture, movement and development. She works with infants, children and adults experiencing challenges related to oral function, jaw development, tongue function, mouth breathing, airway concerns and feeding difficulties, often as part of a collaborative approach with other healthcare professionals.
She is passionate about educating and empowering parents to support their child's development from the very beginning. Through guidance on handling, positioning, feeding, tummy time, movement, play and developmental milestones, she helps families better understand how children develop and how everyday interactions can support healthy motor and neurological development. Her special interest lies in helping children build the foundations for movement and function through the progression of rolling, crawling, walking and beyond.
Her approach is centred around understanding the individual as a whole. Rather than focusing solely on symptoms, she aims to identify the factors influencing health, movement, development and recovery, creating personalised care plans that support long-term function and wellbeing.
As both a healthcare professional and a mother, Dr Hertzog understands the unique challenges families face and is passionate about providing practical, evidence-informed care that helps individuals and families grow, move and thrive.
